Who is this guide for?
If you work at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics or NAS JRB Fort Worth, this guide shows the new buildings within a short drive. It’s part of our new apartments near work series, which we publish only when 5 or more board buildings sit within 20 minutes free-flow.
Lockheed Martin lists 19,193 employees in the City of Fort Worth’s FY2025 ACFR, the largest employer figure we use. Many of those jobs, and many base roles, start early. So we time every drive at the hour you’d actually leave.
Where are the closest new buildings?
Most of the closest new buildings sit in two areas:
- West Fort Worth new apartments: along the I-30 and Loop 820 corridors, including the Las Vegas Trail and White Settlement Road areas and Walsh Ranch farther west. Most commutes here are toll-free.
- Southwest Fort Worth: Benbrook, Clearfork, and the Chisholm Trail Parkway corridor. Some routes use Loop 820, and some are faster on the CTP, which is tolled.
What routes do commutes use?
| From | Usual route | Toll? |
|---|---|---|
| West Fort Worth | I-30 or Loop 820 | Usually none |
| Benbrook | Loop 820 | Usually none |
| Southwest along the CTP | CTP or Loop 820 | CTP is tolled |
The CTP runs 22 cents a mile with a TollTag. If the faster route is tolled, we price it as a monthly line and compare it with the toll-free option. For the CTP option, our guide on toll costs on your commute shows how to figure the monthly line.
Shift-start timing
Tell us your shift. We check the drive at that hour, plus which side of the building the parking exits, since a few minutes at the gate add up.
How does the military clause work?
If you’re stationed at NAS JRB Fort Worth or on orders, there’s a separate termination right under federal and Texas law for qualifying military orders. It’s not the same as the lease’s early-exit clause. The concession addendum, if your lease came with a special, may also say something about repayment.
We’d read all three documents together before you sign: the military clause, the early-exit clause, and the concession addendum. That way you know what applies if orders arrive mid-lease.
What about specials on the west side?
West Fort Worth’s typical special was 6.5 weeks on our Oct 25, 2026 pull, a bit under the 8-week board median. Some specials carried hard end dates, like The Sadie’s, which was set to end Oct 31. We confirm every end date in writing before you apply.
What to ask about a west-side building
These questions matter most if you work at Lockheed Martin or NAS JRB:
- How long is the drive at my shift start, gate to door?
- Which gate do I use, and which building exit gets me there fastest?
- Is the special’s end date confirmed in writing?
- How is water billed at this address?
- What does the lease say about military orders, and what does the concession addendum say about repayment?
| If you are | We’d focus on |
|---|---|
| On an early shift | Drive time at that hour, parking exit |
| Expecting orders | Military clause, concession repayment |
| Comparing west and southwest | Toll-free I-30 vs. the CTP toll line |
We put the answers for each building into your shortlist, beside the whole price.
What happens next?
Tell us your work location, shift start, and move date. If you’re on orders, include the report date. We’ll text you within minutes during our hours, then send a same-day shortlist with drive times, any tolls, and the whole price for each building.
