Which transit runs near new Fort Worth apartments?

If you’d like to ride instead of drive from a new apartment in Fort Worth, two rail lines run today on the Fort Worth side. TEXRail runs from Fort Worth Central Station northeast through stations like Mercantile Center, North Richland Hills/Iron Horse, Smithfield, and Grapevine/Main Street, ending at DFW Airport Terminal B. The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) runs from Fort Worth Central and T&P Station east toward Dallas.

Bus is changing too. La Línea Rosa, a new Trinity Metro line, is scheduled to start in fall 2026. Trinity Metro ZIPZONE and Via Arlington offer on-demand rides in set zones. Our guide on TEXRail and La Línea Rosa explains each one.

What’s running now, and what’s planned?

We keep these separate on every page. The TEXRail extension to the Medical District is expected about 2029, and we’re still verifying that date. La Línea Rosa starts in fall 2026. Until a service runs, it doesn’t count in anyone’s commute on our board.

That matters most for Near Southside and Medical District renters. If you work at Cook Children’s, JPS, or Texas Health Harris Methodist, our guide on new apartments near the Medical District covers today’s options.

How do you measure “near”?

We state the walk time from each building’s entrance to the nearest stop as a fact. A building that looks close on a map can sit across a highway from the station, so distance alone isn’t enough. If a stop has a park and ride, we note it.

We also use a 3-building guard. A transit group gets its own page only when 3 or more board buildings qualify. Below that, there isn’t a real choice to compare, and we’d rather send you a custom list.

Does living near transit change the price?

Sometimes. Buildings near Fort Worth Central and Sundance Square are often mid-rise, with parking as a separate monthly line. If you’d go car-free, you may skip that line. If you’d still drive some days, we keep parking and any tolls in your true monthly.

Tell us the stop or place you need to reach. We’ll text you within minutes during our hours, then send a same-day list with walk times and the whole price for each building.

Why transit plans mislead renters

Planned service gets counted

The Medical District extension is expected about 2029. Counting it today makes a commute look shorter than it is.

Walk times get guessed

A building 'near' a station can still be a long walk with a highway in between.

Small groups get oversold

One or two buildings near a stop isn't a real choice. We wait for 3 before we publish a group.

So we state walk times as facts, separate running from planned, and only group stops with 3 or more buildings.

What we do, step by step

  1. 01

    Name your stop

Tell us the station or line you'd use, or the place you need to reach.

  2. 02

    We measure the walk

We list the walk time from each building to the stop as a fact.

  3. 03

    We price the rest

If you'd still drive some days, parking and tolls go into true monthly.

  4. 04

    We confirm the schedule

We check what's running now, so your plan doesn't depend on a future date.

Free. Your rent is the same either way.

Near Transit: questions we get

Which new apartments are near TEXRail?

Buildings near Fort Worth Central Station and stops toward Grapevine. We list each building's walk time to the nearest station as a fact.

When will TEXRail reach the Medical District?

The extension is expected about 2029, and we're verifying that date. We don't count it in commute times until it runs.

What is La Línea Rosa?

A new Trinity Metro bus line scheduled to start in fall 2026. We'll list buildings near its stops once service begins.

Can I live car-free in a new Fort Worth apartment?

It depends on your trips. Near Fort Worth Central, rail and bus cover more of them. We'd check your regular destinations against what's running now.

Do you count walk time to stations?

Yes, as a fact on each building, measured from the building's entrance.

Why do some transit groups not have pages?

We publish a transit group only when 3 or more board buildings qualify. Below that, we send a custom list instead.

Do you guarantee the price or my approval?

No. The community sets both pricing and approval, and we confirm them in writing before you sign.
